Electrician

Key Responsibilities:

• Service and install electrical distribution equipment in municipal buildings, ensuring all installations meet safety codes and regulations
• Troubleshoot and repair broken or malfunctioning electrical systems and equipment
• Diagnose and repair facility life safety (e.g. fire alarm) systems
• Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance tasks and repairs assignments across different departments or municipal facilities
• Respond promptly to urgent issues to minimize service disruptions in municipal operations
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning lighting fixtures, ballasts, drivers, and control systems
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure lighting systems remain safe, efficient, and in good working order
• Replace worn, damaged, or obsolete components to maintain optimal system performance and energy efficiency
•  Inspect, repair, and maintain single- and three-phase motors, motor control centres (MCCs), starters and drives
• Conduct scheduled inspections, testing, and continuity checks to ensure reliability and operational safety
• Provide emergency electrical services during regular business hours and participate in after-hours response as required
• Respond promptly to urgent service calls to minimize disruptions to municipal operations and public services
• Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code, Alberta Building Code, and Alberta Fire Code, including proper documentation and permitting
• Maintain up-to-date records repairs, installation and permits
• Ensure all electrical and life safety system tasks are compliant with relevant safety standards and building codes
• Complete timely and accurate updates within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Stay current with emerging technologies, and best practices within the electrical industry
• Lead training sessions or workshops as Subject Matter Expert as it relates to electrical and life safety systems
