Key Responsibilities Include:
The primary role of the Development Compliance Officer is the enforcement of the Land Use Bylaw and other Municipal Bylaws related to planning and land use operations, with jurisdiction from the Municipal Government Act, other statues and regulations. The position is responsible for assisting residents and businesses by ensuring that development in the County is in compliance with the Land Use Bylaw and approved development permits. The Development Compliance Officer will work directly with the Planning & Development Officers and Community Peace Officers by initiating investigations, inspection of properties and other compliance matters.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills, diplomacy and professionalism, including strong oral and written communication, customer service skills and experience with public speaking. The position also requires the candidate to have strong conflict resolution and investigative skills to resolve confrontational situations by dealing with these tactfully, clearly and effectively.
