Lacombe County is seeking a positive individual who places a strong focus on customer service and who enjoys conducting educational presentations to join our Protective Services Team. Reporting to the Manager of CPO Services, the CPO is responsible for performing day to day enforcement and administration of County bylaws and provincial statutes with a focus on safety, infrastructure protection and community education.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Conduct highly visible mobile patrols of the municipality for the purpose of preventing and detecting statute infractions and violations;
Perform investigations and follow-up on complaints and incidents;
Issue violation tickets and lay charges in accordance with authorized statutes;
Conduct commercial vehicle inspections (monitor weights and dimensions through the issuance of permits and use of weigh scales);
Liaise with and assist other departments, community groups and associations in areas pertaining to enforcement;
Act as the School Resource Officer, when required, and provide awareness and information on current and trending issues;
Post-secondary diploma in a law enforcement related field, or a Grade 12 diploma supplemented with a minimum of 2 years of related law enforcement experience. Traffic enforcement experience along with prior experience with community and/or school based programs is an asset;
Must meet all requirements for the Solicitor General’s CPO Level 1 appointment including successful completion of a Solicitor General approved physical test (i.e. P.A.R.E.). An acceptable Criminal Record Check that includes a Vulnerable Sector Check is required;
Valid and current first aid and CPR certificates. Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license. Current Radar/Laser certification and completion of the Motor Transport Weights & Measures course are assets;
