Key Responsibilities

Position Summary

Reporting directly to Council, the Municipal Administrator serves as the municipality’s senior administrative officer and is responsible for:

  • Overall administration and operations of the Village
  • Financial management and budgeting
  • Strategic planning
  • Policy development
  • Legislative compliance
  • Human resource leadership
  • Economic and community development
  • Grant administration
  • Asset and infrastructure planning
  • Supporting Council through professional advice and recommendations

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the municipality
  • Prepare and administer annual operating and capital budgets
  • Develop long-term financial plans
  • Prepare financial reports and support annual audits
  • Ensure compliance with the Municipal Government Act and applicable legislation
  • Provide strategic advice to Council
  • Identify and secure grant funding opportunities
  • Manage municipal staff and foster a positive workplace culture
  • Build strong relationships with residents, businesses, neighboring municipalities, and government agencies

Requirements

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Local Government Administration Certificate or equivalent education and/or municipal experience
  • Strong municipal finance and accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of municipal budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience preparing annual operating and capital budgets, while ensuring sound fiscal stewardship and long-term financial sustainability
  • Thorough understanding of the Municipal Government Act
  • Experience in identifying grants, grant writing and grant administration
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with Council, staff, and the public

Previous municipal administration or senior municipal leadership experience will be considered an asset.
