Ensures van or bus is operated in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time schedule; Report to the Community Development Coordinator any mechanical irregularities in addition to reporting on the post trip inspection reports.
Keep the van or bus clean and tidy in appearance.
Complete and document pre and post trip inspections.
Ensures van or bus is filled with gas after each trip.
Maintains appropriate and accurate records as required
Report any difficult situations to the supervisor and makes recommendations regarding solutions.
Be knowledgeable of all aspects of the bus service in order to provide helpful, supportive and courteous service to riders.
Provides physical assistance to passengers as required, handle and assist clients using wheelchairs walkers and other ambulatory aids.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanor.
Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.
Must work effectively and efficiently with no supervision, always be punctual, communicate openly, takes direction well, enjoy interacting with people
Physical job requirements include: occasional lifting of 30 pounds, sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
A minimum Class 4 Alberta Drivers License.
Clear Criminal vulnerable sector check.
A record of safe and responsible driving over the past 5 years.
Defensive Driving Certificate.
National Safety Codes Driver Training would be an asset.
Knowledge of the geography of the service area would be an asset.
