Assistant Agricultural Fieldman

Athabasca County is currently accepting applications for a full time, permanent Assistant Agricultural Fieldman in the Agriculture and Community Services Department. This position will help the Agricultural Service Board achieve its objective of protecting and promoting the growth of the Agriculture Industry in the Athabasca Region.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Provide hands-on services as well as supervise the implementation of weed inspection / pesticide
application, community, school and extension programming, and a variety of other Agricultural
Service Board Programs.

Administer, and enforce compliance to the Agricultural Service Board Act, the Weed Control Act,
and all other related provincial acts as prescribed.

Ensure that the dialogue between Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Agriculture departments is
maintained and local producers are well informed of programs and technology transfer.

To attend & assist with annual inspection of Boyle Seed Cleaning Plant

Responsible for training and supervision of seasonal employees.

Oversee the Rental Equipment Program.

Monitor and maintain the network of rural water sites.

Attend Agricultural Service Board meetings as required.

Represent the County as a Fire Guardian.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a degree or diploma in Agriculture or Environmental Sciences and hold a Pesticide Applicators License as well as a valid Class 5 Drivers License.

The current salary range for this position is $75,224 - $88,001. Athabasca County offers an attractive benefit package and contributes to the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
