Parkland County has a temporary, full-time position available within the Budget & Financial Reporting Department for an Accounting Technician until approximately November 2019. Reporting to the Manager, Budget & Financial Reporting, this position is responsible for the budget preparation process; financial reporting and analysis; capital asset maintenance; grant management, accounts payable and purchase order management and other accounting related duties. In addition to comprehensive knowledge of public sector accounting standards, this position requires strong analytical abilities, along with good attention to detail and numerical accuracy skills.

Diploma in Accounting from a recognized community or technical college. A Bachelor of Commerce degree along with transfer of credits and enrollment in the CPA program is desirable.
Five (5) years of general accounting experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including an in-depth knowledge of Excel and Access database. Must be adept in learning financial software.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, tactful, service orientated relationships with staff and management.
Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
