Requirements:
- Level I
1. Completion of High School Diploma;
2. Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience;
3. National Lifeguard Certificate;
4. National Lifesaving Instructor Certificate;
5. Water Safety Instructor Certificate;
6. Pool Operator Level 1 Certificate;
7. SCBA training and certification;
8. Previous supervisory experience or completion of related courses an asset;
9. Standard First Aid Certificate; and
10. WHMIS Certification is an asset.
- Level II
1. Completion of a High School Diploma;
2. Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of related experience;
3. Must have one (1) of the following instructor certification:
a) National Lifeguard Instructor;
b) First Aid Instructor; or
c) Water Safety Instructor Trainer.
4. Advanced Pool Operator Certificate; and
5. Standard First Aid Certificate.
- Level III
1. Completion of a High School Diploma;
2. Minimum of four (4) years of related experience;
3. Lifesaving Instructor / Bronze Examiner;
4. Must have all of the following instructor certifications:
a) National Lifeguard Instructor;
b) Water Safety Instructor Trainer; and
c) First Aid Instructor Certificate;
5. Advanced Pool Operator Certificate;
6. SCBA training and certification; and
7. Supervisory Certification or completion of related supervisory courses required.
Compensation & Benefits:
- The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
- The 2024 salary ranges for this position are:
- Level I: $25.72 to $28.12 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience;
- Level II: $28.12 to $30.79 per hour, depending on qualification and experience;
- Level III: $ 30.79 to $ 33.73 per hour, depending on qualification and experience.
This is a full-time position with shift, weekend, and overtime hours of work. The Collective Agreement, including wages, can be found online at
