Alberta Hospital and Surgical Health Services is currently recruiting new members for the 14 Regional Advisory Councils (RAC) – Health. The RACs were launched in 2025 to provide the Government of Alberta with a formal mechanism to receive ongoing local/regional health care information and priorities. RACs meet regularly and engage with communities and health partners to identify local/regional perspectives and provide feedback and recommendations for improvements to the health care system. RACs are seeking membership from a wide variety of stakeholders that may include community leaders, Albertans receiving health services, health professionals, health foundations, elected municipal representatives, and others. More general information can be found here.
Participation offers the opportunity to provide the rural municipal perspective in a formal setting where the Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services is receiving advice. As many rural municipalities are experiencing an expansion in scope of responsibilities and services being provided to residents, participation provides a direct platform to identify the health care challenges faced in rural Alberta.
For further information on applying or to apply, please visit the Government of Alberta’s website. The application deadline is November 23, 2026.
