• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the Town’s natural gas, water, and wastewater systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant service delivery.
• Implement departmental policies, procedures, and bylaws, and prepare Requests for Decision (RFDs) as required.
• Manage staffing, equipment, contractors, and resources to meet Council-approved service levels, departmental work plans, and operational goals.
• Maintain system integrity through inspections, leak detection, GPS mapping, metering, and routine testing.
• Ensure environmental stewardship, risk management, regulatory compliance, and required licensing and safety approvals, including compliance with the Alberta Government natural gas utility Quality Management Plan.
• Assist with operating and capital budgets, prepare project estimates, and support long-term capital replacement planning.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate utility staff; oversee employee work plans and performance reviews; and direct contractors and specialists.
• Develop and implement safe work practices in accordance with the Town’s Health and Safety Manual, Gas Federation requirements, and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Manage inventories of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles, and coordinate projects and operational activities with other departments.
• Respond to public inquiries, maintain professional relationships with residents and contractors, and promote continuous improvement and public service.
• Serve as Acting Director when required and maintain confidentiality, discretion, and integrity in all operational matters.
