What do you bring?
You are an analytical, collaborative problem-solver who combines technical data engineering expertise with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and non-technical business partners. You bring:
- A bachelor’s degree or two-year post-secondary diploma in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of relevant education, certifications, and progressive technical experience may be considered.
- A minimum of three years of professional experience building data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and integrations across disparate source systems, including SQL databases and REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms, such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, or comparable enterprise architectures.
- Strong SQL proficiency and practical experience with dimensional modelling, layered data storage patterns, and data transformation using SQL and one or more modern transformation technologies such as Python, PySpark, notebooks, or dataflows.
- Working knowledge of cloud security and identity-based access models, including Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access, and row-level security.
- Clear, proactive communication skills with the ability to listen actively, gather business requirements, and explain complex data concepts in simple, accessible language.
- High attention to detail and structured documentation habits to support maintainability, data lineage, and operational recovery.
Direct experience developing Power BI semantic models, including relationships, DAX measures, Power Query, performance optimization, and row-level security; exposure to Microsoft Purview or enterprise data governance tools; Microsoft certifications such as DP-600 or DP-700; or experience working with spatial data and FME workflows will be considered strong assets.
