Who We’re Looking For

The County is looking for a full-time Insurance and Procurement Coordinator to join us, based in the Administration Office. The Insurance and Procurement Coordinator supports the County’s risk management, procurement, purchasing, and project financial tracking functions. This role works closely with County departments, ensuring that purchases, contracts, insurance claims, and project costs are managed accurately, transparently, and in line with Provincial legislation, trade agreement requirements, and County-specific bylaws and policies.

Working hours

Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All full-time employees receive 3 weeks of vacation, pro-rated to their start date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate records of municipal assets and tracking insurance claims to support appropriate coverage and the annual renewal process.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between County departments, Rural Municipalities Association (RMA) Insurance, brokers, adjusters, and insurers.
  • Supporting community groups and partner organizations requesting ANI status.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bid documents, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and tender packages, supporting competitive procurement processes.
  • Maintaining comprehensive procurement files and databases to administer purchasing.
  • Reviewing project costs against approved budgets, preparing project costing summaries, and supporting year-end processes.
  • Providing clerical support to municipal leadership and guidance to staff on purchasing procedures, coding requirements, insurance documentation, and project costing.
  • Providing backup support to Finance and Administration functions as required.

Requirements

  • Training, certification, or direct experience related to insurance, risk management, procurement, supply chain management, accounting, or project administration.
  • 2-3 years of experience in an administrative role, ideally within a public sector or rural municipal environment, and experience using ERP or financial management software.
  • Familiarity with Alberta municipal operations, basic insurance principles, procurement and capital project tracking, grant-funded projects, or infrastructure-related costing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, files, and priorities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective working relationships across departments.
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
