Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A post-secondary degree in political science, intergovernmental affairs, public policy, economics or a related discipline is required.
- At least three years of professional experience in a policy or government relations position is required.
- Familiarity with issues related to healthcare, policing/justice, and economic development is considered an asset.
- A graduate degree is considered an asset.
- Municipal experience or demonstrated familiarity with municipalities is an asset.
- Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Comfort working collaboratively in a professional team environment, including partnering with colleagues on specific projects.
- Ability to take a solutions-oriented approach to complex policy problems.
- Willingness to propose creative or “outside the box” solutions to complex issues.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Outstanding critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated, and self-directed.
- Excels in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment while able to quickly analyze problems to reach a conclusion.

This position works closely with the Policy & Advocacy team, and reports to the Manager of Policy & Research.
