KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE
The following are required in this position:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in risk management, public or business administration.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in risk management, insurance, contract management or procurement field. Preference given to individuals with more experience.
- A clear Police Information Criminal Record Check is required.
- Familiarity with insurance adjusting techniques and applicable laws, including the ability to read and interpret policy and legislation.
- Risk management principles and practices as they apply to organizational risk management programs.
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently while being a self-directed professional.
- Ability to take initiative, be independent, resourceful, work well and effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in an organized manner.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally verbally and in writing, including being adaptable, receptive, and timely when communicating with others, and possessing tact and discretion in dealing with requests, complaints, and clarification of information.
- Ability to positively influence stakeholders at all levels to improve procurement services programs.
- Ability to analyze issues, including applying problem solving skills and ability to provide outcomes and solutions.
- Ability to deal with confidential and/or personal and sensitive information with a high degree of diplomacy and a good understanding of the requirements under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Detail oriented.
- Proficiency when using all Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, etc.).
The following are considered assets or preferences in this position:
- Certified or in the process of becoming certified in one or more of the following is an asset:
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP)
- Canadian Risk Management professional (CRM) Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP)
- Public Sector Procurement Certificate (CPP)
- Equivalent Canadian credential in insurance, risk management or public procurement
- Experience in the public sector is an asset.
