Summary

Flagstaff County is seeking a seasonal Agriculture Inspector to support the Agricultural Services annual program. Reporting to the Assistant Agricultural Fieldman, this position is responsible for inspecting County rights-of-way and private property for noxious and prohibited weeds, assisting with pest monitoring programs, and completing various agricultural maintenance projects throughout the County.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect County rights-of-way and private property for noxious and prohibited weeds
Maintain accurate inspection and program records
Assist with pest surveys and monitoring programs
Apply herbicides using backpack and handheld sprayers
Operate light-duty trucks and other Class 5 vehicles as required
Support shelterbelt, revegetation, and other County land maintenance projects
Maintain vehicles and equipment in good working condition
Ensure work sites remain organized, safe, and compliant with County Safe Work Practices & Procedures
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Agricultural background and experience in plant and weed identification considered an asset
Pesticide Applicator or Authorized Assistant Certificate is an asset (not required)
Ability to operate basic computer equipment and maintain detailed records
Strong organizational skills and ability to navigate rural addresses
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with the public
Physically capable of performing manual labour and extensive walking
Willingness to learn and follow direction
