- Considerable experience in the operation of heavy duty equipment or a number of different types of automotive equipment used for the maintenance and construction of roads or other related duties.
- Knowledge of approval methods of transporting, including loading, unloading, towing and winching operations.
- Possess skills and abilities to assume higher level supervision.
- Exhibit the knowledge and ability in the maintenance and servicing of the equipment or vehicle.
- Valid Class 3 (Operator ll) Q endorsed, or Class 1 (Operator lll) Driver’s Licence.
- Work may be performed in extreme temperatures or high levels of noise. Physical job requirements: May require lifting and carrying of up to 25kg, shovelling, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, exposure to outdoor conditions, dust, and fumes, and working near equipment. Complete other duties as required by supervisor. Availability to work overtime when required.
- Acceptable Commercial Driver’s Abstract.
- Air Brake (Q) Endorsement.
- Defensive Driving.
- Ground Disturbance Safety Training Level 1.
- Standard First Aid and CPR.
- Safety training in the following areas or will be provided in house: National Safety Codes, Pre-trip Inspection, Flag Person Training Course, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Forklift Operator Certification, Coupling/Uncoupling, Cargo Securement – Rigging and Slinging, Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator – Boom Truck, Chainsaw Safety, Fire Extinguisher, Overhead Powerline, Customer Service.

The ability to safely operate various small power tools by taking precautions to avoid incident. Knowledge of servicing the equipment assigned would be an asset. Work is performed at various outdoor work sites within the County.
Demonstrate a high level of work performance and initiative. Capable of and may be expected to operate several pieces of heavy duty equipment. Exhibit initiative and good judgment in loading, hauling and unloading all types and sizes of materials, supplies, machines and equipment. Knowledge of approval methods of transporting, including loading, unloading, towing and winching operations. Possess skills and abilities to assume higher level supervision. Exhibit initiative and responsibility as well as an understanding of the capabilities of the machine being operated. Knowledge, skill and ability to operate equipment safely and be able to avoid accidents. Exhibit the knowledge and ability in the maintenance and servicing of the equipment or vehicle. Ability to tarp and tie down loads when required. Work is performed at various outdoor work sites within the county.
