Key Responsibilities

Parkland County has an opportunity for a temporary, full-time Senior Advisor, Corporate Strategy position in the Governance & Engagement Services department, working until approximately March 2027.  Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Engagement, the Senior Advisor, Corporate Strategy advances Parkland County’s strategic and corporate planning efforts by leading annual strategic planning, overseeing corporate business plan development, and ensuring alignment with budget and Council’s goals and priorities. The Senior Advisor builds strong internal relationships to embed strategic foundations into decision-making, facilitates department-level corporate and business planning engagement and monitors organizational performance. Additionally, the position supports the design and execution of corporate initiatives and strategic projects, recommending scope adjustments as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in political science, economics, public administration, or a related discipline.
  • A master’s degree in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Certification in municipal leadership, strategic planning, public participation, facilitation and engagement would be considered assets.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in strategic planning and/or strategic policy development.
  • Knowledge and practical experience dealing with public policies and procedures and key functions and operations of municipal government, including work experience with elected officials.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programs.
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license and ability to provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
