Summary

Flagstaff County is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Coordinator to join our Corporate Services team. Reporting directly to the Corporate Services Director, this position plays a key role in supporting the County’s information systems, GIS database, and technology infrastructure.

In this role, you will provide technical assistance to staff and Council members, coordinate with external IT contractors, and work closely with our GIS service provider to ensure accurate, reliable, and accessible information systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the County’s GIS database and infrastructure information to support GIS and Asset Management objectives.
  • Coordinate with the GIS service provider to maintain the database and ensure data integrity.
  • Work with Municipal Services and the GIS provider to update infrastructure data and improve accuracy as new information becomes available.
  • Provide GIS support to departments and internal stakeholders, ensuring appropriate access to GIS information.
  • Respond to internal and external GIS information requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Operate and manage the County’s GPS data collection system to support field and infrastructure data capture.
  • Identify and report GIS discrepancies and recommend improvements aligned with department needs, asset management goals, and best practices.
  • Provide IT support and user training (hardware/software/network troubleshooting, workstation setup, onboarding, staff/Council support) and liaise with external IT contractors as required.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline (GIS, database management, engineering technology, asset management, or related).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ related municipal service experience, including 1 year in GIS/database management.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS, GeoMedia Professional, GPS data collection, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of records and information management standards and processes.
  • Strong report-writing, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders of varying technical expertise.
  • Experience with Laserfiche and knowledge of municipal government processes are assets.

Salary Range

$86,951.90 - $106,939.86 annually
