The Government of Alberta’s Nuclear Engagement and Advisory Panel will be hosting townhall sessions to further engage with members of the public. These in-person sessions follow several online webinars held by the panel in December and January focused on nuclear energy in Alberta.
The dates for the upcoming engagement sessions are as follows:
- Fort McMurray – Jan. 27, 6:30 p.m., SMS Equipment Place, McDonald Island Park
- Bonnyville – Jan. 29, 6:30 p.m., Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre
- Calgary – Feb. 12, 6:30 p.m., Location TBD
- Edmonton – Feb. 17, 6:30 p.m., Location TBD
The Nuclear Engagement Advisory Panel has also committed to meeting with Indigenous communities, municipalities and regional stakeholders in the respective communities. Feedback and input will inform the panel’s final report, which is expected to be finalized by March 31st.
Although the nuclear energy sector in Alberta is emergent, RMA has been monitoring developments, conducting research and engaging with members and stakeholders. RMA will continue to explore the nuclear energy sector in rural Alberta to support advocacy for our members.
