Qualifications and Skills:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in OHS, or a related field such as occupational hygiene or health sciences, combined with a minimum of 7 years related experience is required
- Professional certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) in good standing is required
- Experience with, or certification within, the Incident Command System is an asset
- Public service sector or organization-wide health and safety experience is preferred
- Demonstrated working knowledge and awareness of the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation and Code, WCB-Alberta legislation and processes, COR program is required
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of OHS management systems and disability management programs is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening, paraphrasing, and engaging diverse audiences; political acumen and technical writing skills are considered assets
- Proven time management abilities, with the capacity to handle heavy workloads, competing priorities, and frequent interruptions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience developing and implementing occupational health programs is required
- Advanced research, analysis, and project management skills, with strong analytical capabilities to interpret and manage complex information from multiple sources
- Technical writing skills are an asset
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to facilitate groups, influence without authority, and demonstrate effective leadership behaviors
Conditions of Employment:
- Class 5 Alberta vehicle operator’s license and ability to provide own transportation and meet insurance requirements
