Work Responsibilities
Family Resource Network – Hinton Family Centre (FRN/HFC) Ages 0-18
- Support the Caregiver Education Coordinator to operate the Hinton Family Centre with regular engagement
- Deliver parent-child drop in groups
- Support the Caregiver Education Coordinator to deliver programs for caregivers and families
- Assist in delivering educational presentations, workshops, trainings, information, and community activities
- Assist in offering programming in-person, in-home, or online
- Directly supervise children for programs that provide child minding
- Respond to emergencies when appropriate with First Aid
- Ensure that activities take place in a safe environment
- Complete written documentation
- Adhere to Town policies and procedures
- Perform tasks including cleaning, set up, and take down
- Undertake other duties as assigned
Hinton Kids for Success (HKFS)
Ages 5-12
- Directly supervise children ages 5 – 12 in after-school and full-day programs
- Assist in delivering developmentally appropriate programs
- Respond to emergencies when appropriate with First Aid
- Prepare and serve snacks to the children in care
- Perform tasks including cleaning, set up, and take down
- Ensure that activities take place in a safe environment
- Adhere to the Hinton Kids for Success and Discovery Camp Policy Manual, and the Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulations
- Adhere to Town policies and procedures
- Ensure that all materials are prepared in advance
- Participate in regular fire drills with the children in care according to the policies established by FCSS
- Complete written documentation
- Assist with daily attendance in computer software systems and obtain confidential information as required
- Undertake other duties as assigned
Youth Centre (YC) Ages 13-18
- Actively supervise youth during drop-in hours (afternoons/evenings/nights)
- Establish trusting and meaningful relationships with children, youth, and families
- Work with the Youth Centre Coordinator to offer and create fun recreation, social activities and events
- Respond to emergencies when appropriate with First Aid
- Adhere to Town policies and procedures
- Responsible for handling food preparation
- Develop and utilize the skills of the youth attending the Youth Centre to provide youth-driven initiatives
- Promote youth involvement in community life
- Maintain a clean, safe, supportive environment for youth
- Perform tasks including cleaning, set up, and take down
- Ensure that activities take place in a safe environment
- Be comfortable working independently with youth
- Monitor and support individuals to encourage social inclusion
- Complete written documentation
- Undertake other duties as assigned

Hours
Able to work evenings and weekends as required.
Physical Effort
Providing child and youth activities. Energetic, interactive labour provision with varying levels of physical effort, including moderate lifting (up to 10 kg), sitting, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, driving, carrying.
Travel
Some travel to field sites within and outside the Town under various road and weather conditions. Must maintain alertness and respond appropriately using defensive driving skills in various conditions (traffic, weather, distractions).
Work Environment
Performance of duties entails program coordination for children and youth in public spaces, indoors and outdoors (seasonally), and field trips offsite. Significant exposure to the public in a service provision capacity. Limited to moderate exposure to office environments. Potential exposure to biohazards.
Health and Safety
Ensure the Town of Hinton health and safety policies, procedures, directives, and safe work practices are followed in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
