The ideal candidate would have the following:
- Current enrollment or completion of post-secondary education in Agriculture or a related field.
- Knowledge of the Weed Control and Agricultural Pests Act would be an asset.
- Experience with plant, weed and crop disease identification.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Upon hire, a current Driver’s Abstract must be provided.
- Knowledge of computer applications and familiar with the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and the ability to navigate using the Alberta Township Survey system.
- Ability to maintain accurate and legible reports.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain an effective, tactful service-oriented relationship with the public including de-escalation skills.
- An agricultural or environmental background would be an asset.
The total rewards package for this position includes:
An hourly rate of pay of $28.37 (2026 rate) working 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week; May to approximately August 28, 2026.
