New RMA Report: RMA’s Response to 2025 Emergency Social Services Framework

In light of an updated Emergency Social Services (ESS) Framework, RMA prepared a response outlining how the framework aligns with Resolution 7-24S and provided the Government of Alberta with key recommendations to work towards continually improving ESS.

In May 2025, the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) released the Alberta Emergency Social Services (ESS) Framework. The new framework replaced the 2016 Provincial Emergency Social Services Framework.

RMA members endorsed Resolution 7-24S: Establishing a Provincial Level of Service for Emergency Social Services. After careful review, RMA found the updated ESS report met all three of the operative clauses. The resolution status was changed to accepted.

RMA developed a new Report, 2025 Emergency Social Services Framework: RMA Reaction, that highlights key ESS background information, insights from RMA member evacuations, and recommendations for the Government of Alberta to continue to improve ESS and include RMA as a stakeholder in future ESS Framework updates.
