Alberta Forestry and Parks Conducting Plan for Parks Engagement

Have your say in the new Plan for Parks!

Alberta Forestry and Parks is conducting a multi-round engagement to create a new Plan for Parks, which is Alberta’s strategic direction for recreation and conservation of provincial parks, provincial recreation areas, and wildland provincial parks managed under the Provincial Parks Act.

A new Plan for Parks will:

  • Provide a vision for the future and set out enduring goals, outcomes and supporting actions that will guide management of sites administered under the Provincial Parks Act
  • Support in growing recreation opportunities for parks visitors
  • Address challenges and support navigating decisions involving diverse and sometimes competing needs in Alberta’s provincial parks system
  • Support nature-based recreation and camping opportunities, while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our provincial parks system in an environmentally responsible way
  • Shape how current and future generations visit and enjoy provincial parks
  • Meet new challenges to provincial parks caused by increasing pressures and growing demand from existing and new activities

After reviewing the new draft Plan for Parks, municipalities are encouraged to share their input on its strategic direction through an online survey. The online survey closes on July 26, 2025, and will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
