Key Responsibilities Include:
Key deliverables include managing current facility operational requirements, from preventative maintenance to new construction projects. Strong project management skills are required to support the effective delivery of the facility capital plan, including working with a diverse group of contractors, employees, and direct reports to deliver projects from initiation through planning, design, construction, and warranty. Specific tasks include: developing annual budgets and capital plans, coordinating with operational managers to deliver projects on time and on budget, managing procurement through government procurement processes, managing contracts and specifications related to facility projects, providing timely reporting on projects, acting as liaison on partner projects, and supporting the Special Areas safety program and all related OH&S regulations. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of facilities planning and construction management, proven expertise in project management, knowledge of current trends in facility management and construction with a focus on energy efficiency and LEED standards, demonstrated expertise in building construction codes and standards of practice, and experience with tendering/contract management.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership, supervisory, communication, time management, and organizational skills. A proactive problem solver, the successful candidate will be committed to the provision of excellent customer service to a variety of stakeholders. Highly motivated with the ability to work independently, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively deliver a project on time and within budget. The successful candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, and the skills to complete minor repair work as needed. Strong communication skills are needed to manage multiple projects with different stakeholders simultaneously, with demonstrated excellence in project scheduling, reporting, and document management.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: A post-secondary diploma in a related field or completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent. Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in project planning, building construction, maintenance, or equivalent field.
Demonstration of supervisory experience in building construction and facilities management would be an asset. Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
