Utility Operator
Permanent, Full-Time
The Municipal District of Foothills No. 31 encompasses a diverse rural landscape covering approximately 3,600 square kilometres located in the foothills of southern Alberta. The M.D. of Foothills is inviting applications for a permanent full-time Utility Operator.
The Utility Operator will perform a variety of skilled, technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance and repair of the M.D. of Foothills Water and Wastewater assets including the SCADA system.
This position is responsible for operating the water, water distribution, wastewater collection and wastewater disposal facilities. The position will also operate, maintain, troubleshoot and monitor all necessary equipment and structures and develop solutions to rectify any issues. As part of the Utilities Team the operator will follow regular maintenance programs, procedures and schedules, provide accurate reports, complete testing and ensuring compliance with Alberta Environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Have an Alberta Environment certification through NAIT’s Water and Wastewater Technician Program or a recognized AEP equivalent.
- Completion of Alberta Environment Operators Certificate for Water Distribution I, Wastewater Collection I and Wastewater Treatment I would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the Alberta Environmental Codes of Practice for Water/Wastewater Systems and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
This position is required to work on-call as well as after hours and weekends as necessary.
