Weed Inspectors

Key Responsibilities Include:

Parkland County has Temporary, Full-time, summer positions available in the Agricultural Services Department for Weed Inspectors. Successful candidates will assist in the County’s weed control program by dealing with property owners concerning weed infestations, issuing notices where required, identifying and controlling weeds and performing related duties. The ability to deal with the public effectively and courteously is required. Extensive time spent driving will be required.

Rate of Pay: $25.23 per hour
Hours of Work: 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week (May 1 to approximately August 30, 2019)

This position is covered by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 955 Collective Agreement.

Requirements:

Current enrollment or completion of post-secondary education in Agriculture or a related field.

Knowledge of the Weed Control Act.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Upon hire, a current Driver’s Abstract must be provided.

An agricultural or environmental background would be an asset.

Knowledge of computer applications and familiar with the use of GPS and GIS.
