Key Responsibilities Include:
The SUPERVISOR provides supervision to the contracted services section of the utilities group and is accountable for the supervision, coordination and operation of contracted water, wastewater, and storm water utility programs and projects. Through managing priorities and the coordination of work, the project supervisor is a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables.
A high school diploma and certification in Water Distribution (Level III), Wastewater Collection (Level III), Wastewater Treatment (Level I) is preferred. Five (5) years of experience, in the operation and maintenance of municipal water, wastewater, and storm water infrastructure is required Supervisory experience is a strong asset. Confined Space Entry and Monitor, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance for Supervisors, and hydrogen sulfide (H2S Alive) certification is required.
Must be able to effectively communicate complex technical information and provide consistent, friendly, professional customer service to internal and external customers in the face of ongoing change, regular interruptions and the pressure of deadlines. The ability to deliver presentations, and prepare clear, concise reports is required. In-depth knowledge of the practices, procedures, and principles used in water and wastewater utilities, and storm water management, and the knowledge of the licenses, approvals, codes, regulations and acts that govern the operation activities is required. The ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality is essential.
Proven achievement of results through coordination of work and project oversight is key to success in the role. Experience working with and leading teams is required. Project management experience and certification is an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
An Alberta Class 5 driver’s license, criminal record check satisfactory to Leduc County and the ability to obtain security clearance at the Edmonton International Airport is required.
