An excellent opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to join out dynamic and committed team as the Supervisor of Utility Crews in our Public Works Department. Reporting to the Manager of Utilities, this position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of utility crews for the City's Utility Systems including Water Supply, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, Wastewater and Storm Water Collection.
HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work are typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Shift work, on-call and overtime will also be necessary to address operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities Include:
FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Coordinate and supervise Utility crews and equipment in operation and maintenance activities.
- Responsible for the City’s response and record management of the “One Call System” for utility locates.
- Manage the City’s Excavation Permit System.
- Investigate and resolve customer concerns.
- Provide assistance to Engineering Services with capital works projects.
- Assists with managing the utility safety program, incident reporting and investigations.
- Attend after work hours emergency calls and performs on call duties.
- Manage the utility materials inventory and coordinate the annual water and wastewater materials audit.
- Oversee data input and record keeping on water and wastewater databases.
- Operate equipment, when the need arises and in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
- Represent the Manager of Utilities in their absence.
- Complete other tasks as required by General Manager of Infrastructure and Senior Administration.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Alberta Environment Certification: Water Distribution Level 3, Wastewater Collection Level 3 and Wastewater Treatment Level 1.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in utility construction and underground utility locating.
- Excellent understanding of City utility infrastructure and map reading ability.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the water and wastewater field with direct municipal experience.
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written with the ability to converse with a wide variety of customers and internal resources.
- Experience supervising and leading other staff, setting priorities and managing multiple tasks.
- Strong computer skills including experience with MS Office considered an asset.
