Red Deer County has a full-time, temporary position for a dynamic and highly motivated SENIOR SERVICES COMMUNITY WORKER to supplement our ongoing focus in the delivery of customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to the Community Services Coordinator, the Senior Services Community Worker’s role is to liaise and provide programs and services that help seniors live safely, enjoy good health, and stay involved in the community.
This position will help to identify and assess barriers and challenges with the community related to buildings and outdoor spaces, transportation, housing, respect and social inclusion, social participation, communication and information, civic participation, employment opportunities, community support, and health services.
The Senior Services Community Worker will collaborate with Recreation and Culture partners and Preventative Support Service providers and agencies to improve services for older residents living in Red Deer County, especially in rural areas.
Completion of a post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related human services field with a minimum of four (4) years related experience. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to building and maintain positive relations with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
Possess a working knowledge of available social and recreational services within the County and Central Alberta, with a focus on rural community functions and issues.
Ability to relate well to relevant services within the community.
Proven volunteer management skills, along with innovative and relevant knowledge of various sources of funding.
Proven research and facilitation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with little supervision.
An active, positive contributor on team-orientated initiatives.
Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
Valid Class 5 drivers’ license, with an acceptable drivers’ abstract.
Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
Standard First Aid Level C w/AED certification.
Experience in a local government environment is considered an asset.
