The MD of Bighorn is currently accepting applications to fill the full-time entry level position of Roads Worker I
This position requires an individual that is proficient in the operation and maintenance of small construction equipment but also is able to fulfill the labor aspects of the job. If your anticipation is that of, operating equipment is all you will be doing, then this position is definitely not for you. If you are a hardworking, responsible, dedicated individual, then, by all means apply, we are interested in hearing from you!
Some of the duties incorporated with this position include: The installation & maintenance of road signs, culverts, guard rails etc., undertake spray patching, general upkeep and inspection of municipal roads and aiding other divisions of our Operations Department. Preference will be given to those who are best qualified for the position.
Applicants shall possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade XII diploma and/or equivalent
Valid class 2 or 3 operators license with Q endorsement.
Proficient in the operation & maintenance of smaller scale construction equipment such as skid steer loaders, compact excavators, and the various implements associated with them.
A strong ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Previous relative experience in road works and/or of manual labor tasks such as landscaping
Familiarization with the operation of snorkel truck spray patcher units would be considered an asset.
Conditions of Employment:
Current Drivers Abstract required (upon notification of an interview).
Hours of work: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Mon. - Fri. (Some weekend work may be required).
