The County of Vermilion River is seeking a highly motivated person to join our safety oriented team as Road Maintenance Foreman. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this full time permanent position will coordinate and supervise the Road Maintenance operations and repairs of the CVR road system (repairs, gravel, snow removal, culverts, drainage, signage, and grader beats).
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Road Maintenance: prioritize and coordinate road maintenance
projects; equipment and ongoing repairs and maintenance; ensure a safe work environment; provide regular reports on activities and plans;
assist with approach inspections, bridge repairs, yearly road bans;
investigate complaints and implement solutions
- Supervise Grader/Snow Plow/Plow Truck Operators: provide support,
leadership, and guidance to the team of operators
- Signs and Culverts: coordinate maintenance and installation of roadside signs and the steaming, replacement, and installation of culverts as required
- Coordinate & Supervise Gravel Program: distribution and application of gravel to roads; utilizing Gravel Haulers (internal and contracted) as per service level and operating budget; coordinate haulers to provide timely and efficient
product delivery; knowledge of Alberta’s Code of Practice for Pits an asset
Requirements:
A minimum 5 years experience in municipal road maintenance program, along with project/supervisory/leadership/experience.
Time/Priority management is essential, as is a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook) and outstanding communications/public relations skills.
