We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated person to join our safety-oriented team as Road Maintenance Foreman. You are a "people person" who enjoys managing people through earning their respect.
You will prioritize, coordinate, and supervise road maintenance projects; coordinate equipment and ongoing repairs and maintenance; ensure a safe work environment; provide regular reports on activities and plans; assist with snow removal, approach inspections, bridge repairs, yearly road bans; investigate complaints and implement solutions.
8-hour workday (Monday through Friday) – Overtime may be required
This position will muster out of our Youngstown Service Centre
Key Responsibilities Include:
Key Duties will include:
Supervision of all road maintenance activities throughout the Special Areas including involvement in planning and management. This aspect of the work involves directly supervising road maintenance foremen with onsite inspections (weekly) to ensure all roads meet Special Areas’ standards
Assists with the investigation of road complaints, coordinating required repairs and work with Area Maintenance Foremen; reporting as required
Observes all regulations and procedures that relate to health and safety for self, direct reports, and other employees. Reports all Occupational Health and Safety related injuries or property in support of the Special Areas Board's safety program; thoroughly investigate accidents.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (GED) – combination of experience/education will be considered
3-5 years of road maintenance and/or construction supervisory experience preferred
Class 5 Drivers’ Licence
Working knowledge of MS Suite, and competent ability in using software such as GIS and Automatic Vehicle Locating (AVL) systems
Physical capabilities to perform job duties - required lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
Working knowledge in the care and use of tools and equipment common to these positions
Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion and use good judgement
Preference may be given to candidates possessing:
Class 3 AB Drivers Licence – Air Endorsement
This is a designated safety sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on all newly hired employees
