Public Works Foreman

Key Responsibilities Include:

We are recruiting a Public Works Foreman reporting to the Director, Public Works. The Public Works Foreman assists with planning, coordinates employees, and ensures that equipment and materials necessary to accomplish scheduled work are available. The position records project costs, provides input into the maintenance and construction programs of the municipality, and as a working foreman, provides operational support. Requirements:

The Ideal Candidate:

MUST have a minimum grade 12 diploma or GED

a minimum five (5) years of experience related to road construction, maintenance, and Public Works operations

a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience

class 1 Operator’s Licence

certification in or is willing to obtain certification in WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, Trenching & Excavation (supervisory level), TDG, First Aid, Overhead Travelling Crane, and Leadership in Safety Excellence

safety program experience

certification in or is willing to obtain certification in Level 1 Water Treatment/Distribution & Level 1 Wastewater Collection/Treatment

certification in Skill Assessor-Powered Mobile Equipment, APWA Public Works Supervisor Level 1, Certified Engineering Technologist, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or other related disciplines considered assets

experience operating equipment, trucks, and working on construction projects

ability to use technology and software related to Municipal operations

well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

display a high degree of confidentiality, time management, planning, leadership, and delegation skills

This is a permanent full-time position, based on 42.5 hours per week. The MD offers a competitive compensation and benefit package. Annual Salary Grid starts at $85,891. Approved overtime may be required from time to time to meet objectives and timelines. Please note that the successful candidate must have a minimum grade 12 diploma or GED and will be required to supply a suitable Driver’s Abstract and an acceptable Criminal Record check.
