The Public Relations Advisor will provide direct support to Mayor and Council, while working in alignment with the City's Corporate Communications Department's Strategy to deliver strategic social media support and management, coordination of media relations, promotions of City Council activities and events, correspondence with stakeholders, and developing speaking notes/speeches for public events.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate with honesty, diplomacy, and tact in an open and political environment.

Strong marketing, issues management and promotion skills - using cutting edge marketing and communication tactics and strategies.

Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to recognize and attend to multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong understanding of various social media platforms and solid experience working in various media platforms.

High standard of ethics, integrity, and discretion.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Five (5) years' experience in a similar role.

An equivalent combination of management approved education and experience may be considered.
