Under the general direction of the Manager of Supplier Relations, the Procurement Manager is responsible for full-cycle procurement operations from developing Request for Proposals (RFP’s) to negotiating and awarding contracts. The Procurement Manager also supports supplier relations by managing contract compliance and organizing suppliers’ availability for various regions throughout Canada. There is a strategic component to the role, looking to ensure that Canoe is not only compliant with current legislation but to ensure that the organization is a resected leader in the industry.
The Procurement Manager will work with prospective suppliers to educate on the Canoe Procurement Group of Canada process and the advantages of responding to procurements administered by a Group Purchasing Organization. With the cyclical nature of supplier contracts, the Procurement Manager will maintain the procurement schedule for Canoe and provide insight into the creation of new programs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
The Procurement Manager will be responsible to assist in the implementation of Canoe procurement and supplier relations activities. This will include but not be limited to:
- Providing support to the Canoe team
- RFP drafting and proposal evaluations
- Contract negotiations and awards
- Ongoing supplier planning and strategy
- Record keeping of all contracts
- Regional supplier expansion
- Working with marketing to ensure information on website is accurate and available
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Completion of related post-secondary degree or diploma (Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration preferred)
- SCMP or equivalent designation is required
- Business development experience
- Requires high degree of initiative, professionalism, and judgement
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
