Performs a variety of paraprofessional planning and development tasks at the public counter, the office, and in the field, including basic intake and review of a wide variety of subdivision, land use and development proposals, basic file research and maintenance, and site inspections/mapping; prepares simple technical reports; creates and maintains databases; assists Manager and Development Officer with research and planning studies, and performs other duties as required.
Position Duties:
Planning and Development
- Provide accurate and professional information to inquiries related to Development Permits, Land Use Amendments, Town planning processes, and Subdivision Applications.
- Intake and set up of development permit applications, certificates of compliance, subdivision applications, and other land use applications.
- Undertake field inspections for development and subdivision applications or review.
- Assist with preparation of mapping, research and reports, compile technical data, assist with documentation for projects and presentations; maintain planning, statistical, photographic and historical records, and assist in Council report preparation as directed by Manager.
- Assist Development Officer with the maintenance of the Offsite Levy Model.
- Office related duties including data entry, customer service, ordering of needed supplies, receiving monies, invoicing, filing, and preparing departmental purchase orders.
- Any other duty as assigned by the Manager.
Bylaw and File Maintenance
- Responsible for the provision of administrative updates to Plans, Policies and Bylaws of the Department.
- Assists with referral preparation, mailing, recording, and filing of responses for planning-related files; advertising and scheduling of bylaws; responsibilities for land records management.
Land Related Matters
- Assist Manager with the sale and transfer of Town-owned land.
- Assist with preparation and execution of planning-related documents, land registrations, bylaws, referrals. Must be willing to act as a commissioner of oaths on behalf of the Town.
Health and Safety
- Actively participate in Formal Workplace Inspections in area of responsibility.
- Review pertinent Hazard Identification, Assessment, and Control worksheets on an annual basis as required by the Municipal Health and Safety Program.
- Follow all Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
- Immediately report any unsafe conditions, potential work hazards, or incidents to Supervisor.
