We are currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Parks Operator II for our Parks department.
About the Opportunity:
The Parks Operator ll is required to operate Parks and Open Spaces related equipment such as the backhoe, skid steer, tool cat, various mowers, and other powered equipment. Plan and coordinate work with other departments and external customers. This position will assist with the supervision of seasonal staff on a seasonal basis or as required by Manager or Leads. Follow the City of Leduc’s OH&S manual with regards to policy, duties and responsibilities. Planning of activities and written reports related to daily activities, as required by supervisor.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Equipment operation for specific Park areas such as horticulture, turf, playground, cemetery, multi-ways and outdoor ice
- Liaison with community groups to provide equipment or staff coordination for events or initiatives
- Provide first responses to customer requests in the field
- Assist the Parks supervisor with staff & equipment coordination on Community initiatives
- Summer Operations:
- Hort Crew supervision and training
- Landscape designing and installations
- Seasonal planting and plant care, may include assisting Urban Forestry department
- Winter Operations:
- Daily coordination with seasonal staff with direction from the park’s supervisors
- Train seasonal staff on Parks and Open Spaces best practices & procedures
Requirements:
You are the successful candidate for this position if you have the following:
- High School diploma
- Landscape / Horticulturist certifications and experience is considered an asset
- Class 3 license with Q endorsement is required
- First aid certification is required
- WHIMIS, TDG, and OH&S certifications is considered an asset
- Certifications for various equipment operations such as tractors, mowers, backhoe, forklift, and skid steer will be required
- Must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check at own expense
