Park & Trail Coordinator Competition

This is a temporary, one year position, responsible for the coordination of park and trail development projects within the Open Space Master Plan, not limited to but inclusive of lease agreements, capital projects, relevant policies, and related land matters.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Ensure the compilation, coordination, and timely response for all lease agreements on MR, including execution of lease agreements.

Support the strategic goals and objectives to align with the development of park and trail initiatives.

Coordinate and report on all trail, park, and playground projects and initiatives as aligned to the Open Space Master Plan.

Coordinate and lead staff on initiatives within the Commemorative and Roadside Memorial Polices.

Act as resource for internal referrals related to any land matters (temporary use of MR, special events etc.).

Liaison with the community, develop professional relationships to achieve effective partnerships for the fulfilment of enhancements within Sturgeon County Parks and Trails and processes related to temporary use of MR; issues on trails, parks, or open space: general land related matters, and lead on matters related to River Alliance and Alberta Trail Net.

Accountable for all Open Space Management of park and trail development including completion of tenders, execution and management of all related capital projects and fiscal reporting.

Coordinate all applicable site meetings for contracted work to ensure work is completed in accordance with Sturgeon County Policy and Procedures.

Maintain and accurately report on all MR, ER and other land matters to Departments and provide status updates.

Coordinate with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.

Support and collaborate with Agriculture Services on projects specific to Cardiff Park rehabilitation.

Develop and maintain the framework of project budget monitoring and cost allocations.

Prepare and coordinate appropriate communication on projects and open space initiatives, preparation of social media and print communication as needed.

Support Community Development Coordinator with community engagements efforts and initiatives as required.

Assist the department by supporting the County’s Records and Information Management Program through the maintenance, control, and disposition of records.

Greet public and handle public inquiries at front counter and on the phone when required.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.

Requirements:

This position requires a diploma (preferred degree) in community development or recreation with a focus on park, trail, and open space management. Project Management Certification and knowledge of the Municipal Government Act would be considered an asset. Experience in budget management and community outreach. Efficient in navigating databases and inventory software with strong knowledge of all Microsoft office Programs.

Excellent organizational and written communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, attention to detail with ability to meet deadlines while working under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills to navigate through difficult issues with opposing views is essential.
