The Town of Bon Accord Public Works Department is looking for a responsible, self-motivated individual for the permanent full-time position of Operator I.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Position involves working in all areas of public works, including but not limited to, Water, Sewer, Roads, and Cemetery. Duties may also include work in the Parks and Recreation/Arena department, when required. The applicant must be willing to take all provided required training in regard to safety, equipment operation and all Alberta Environment water and wastewater courses, as well as maintaining certification.
The applicant is required to work on a rotational on-call cycle, which currently requires proximity of a maximum of a 15-minute drive to the Town of Bon Accord.
Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalency (GED), valid Class 5 operator’s license with drivers abstract, and Criminal check (applicant may be required to supply documentation to support qualifications prior to commencement of position).
Due to the nature of the position the applicant must also be physically fit, mechanically inclined, maintain good communication skills (written and verbal), and have a safe work attitude. Being able to fit in to our team environment is crucial as is being able to work alone when needed.
Certifications or licence endorsement in Air Brake, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, and Wastewater Treatment in addition to experience in a municipal environment, equipment operation, trades work and safety training would be considered an asset.
