Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to the Director of Operational Services, this position oversees and coordinates the County’s engineering and facility maintenance services. Provides technical support in house or with consulting firms, contractors, developers, and utility companies. Oversees all County-owned facility maintenance programs and miscellaneous projects as assigned.
Completion of Grade 12 or GED equivalent combined with a Technology diploma from a recognized institution in Civil Engineering, Survey or Geomatics;
Level 1 Public Work Supervisor Certificate from APWA or certification in a related field;
Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) from ASET;
Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively hands-on supervisory experience, preferable in a municipal operations or public works environment;
Previous knowledge of road maintenance and road techniques would be considered an asset;
Requires a thorough knowledge of facility maintenance including the ability to identify issues, carry out and organize necessary repairs; ability to prepare accurate cost estimates, budget related data, and infrastructure maintenance project management;
Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, peers, and the public under all types of conditions. Must have a constant awareness of the stakeholder, both internal and external, with the ability to recognize the customers’ needs at all times;
High degree of competency in using computers in the technical areas of word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software and databases. (MS Suite preferred);
Valid Alberta Operator’s License – Class 5 (no more than six (6) demerits.
