Westlock Regional Waste Management Commission located in Westlock County is looking for an energetic hard-working individual who wants to become a member of or proactive team as Operations Supervisor. Westlock Regional Waste Operates the Regional Landfill, Recycle center, Hydrovac station, and plastic grinding facility in addition to working with Altroot with an on site full compost facility, that processes 20,000 tonne of compost for regenerative agriculture. We have a board of directors that are forward thinkers and support waste diversion not just for our region but for other regions as well. We are a Class II MSW facility operating under a Alberta Environment Registration for our landfill. In addition we monitor the County of Westlocks old landfill south of Commission landfill.

Vision Statement is: “We are leaders in waste diversification and innovation!”, taking pride in what they have developed and accomplished for such a small service area, about 10,000 population, located in a agricultural area just 45 minutes north of Edmonton Alberta. In the past 5 years they have expanded their recycle program by over 400 %, added a plastic grinding facility receiving from 5 different municipalities and shipping to 2 different processors, added a Hydrovac Dumping Station and created the partnership with Altroot, a unique partnership for a commission. They have expanded the life of active cells by 2 plus years, and currently working with a change in processes to increase current active cell capacity another 10 or 11 years.
Get an opportunity to work with, and learn from, an award-winning Manager, Tom Moore, well known in the waste and recycle industry within rural Alberta, for his creativity in diverting and recycle programs. His experience ranges from handling waste after the Slave Lake wildfire in 2011, assisting High River after their flood in 2013, and Wood Buffalo after their Wild Fire.
Successful individual will report directly to the Waste Commission Manager, and will oversee all operations, excluding administration. You must have at least 5 years landfill operations experience, with equipment operations a plus, and 3 years supervision experience, must have good equipment knowledge and mechanical knowledge and abilities, fluent computer knowledge and reporting abilities.
