Municipal Assistant III – Planning and Development
Kneehill County has a permanent full time opportunity available within our Municipal Services team, as a Municipal Assistant III-Planning and Development.
Under the direction of the Manager of Planning and Development, this administrative position is responsible for providing support for day to day administrative duties for the Planning and Development department. The position will also serve as the recording secretary to the Municipal Planning Commission. The successful candidate will have excellent organization skills, strong attention to detail, municipal experience and a positive customer service philosophy.
Provide front-line support to the public relative to Safety Code Council permitting for the disciplines of building, electrical, plumbing and private sewage, and gas; communicate and administer related policies and practices to applicants.
Prepare reconciliation of the Safety Codes Council Accounts, Safety Codes Council fees and Kneehill County’s Safety Codes Council Contract Inspector’s payments.
Compile reports, correspondence; advertising notices as directed by the Planning and Development Officer.
Serve as recording secretary to the Municipal Planning Commission including creation of the meeting package, minute preparation and follow-up required.
Provide general research support for the Planning and Development Department
Update and consolidate the land and electronic filing systems within the Planning and Development Department and maintain such systems on an ongoing basis.
Provide general front-line administrative support as required, including telephone reception and assistance with customers attending the front-counter.
Compile Subdivision and Development Appeal Board packages and required notifications and advertisements under the direction of the Secretary to the Board.
Land Use Planning Diploma or Diploma in Business Administration with several years of experience.
Several years experience in municipal administration or related field.
Solid conflict resolution skills and proven public relation skills
Excellent communication skills; positive attitude.
Positive customer service philosophy
Hands-on computer application experience using Microsoft Office
Eligible for Designation of Powers Certification though Safety Code Council
