Summary

The County of Wetaskiwin is seeking a full time Motorgrader Operator, reporting to the Road Maintenance Foreman. Hours of work are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as required, and in accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers No. 955 (IUOE) Collective Agreement

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for grading, snowplowing and the general maintenance of local graveled roads. Other duties include, public works operations, equipment care and maintenance.

Requirements

  • A minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Heavy equipment operator training is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of slopes and grades is required.
  • Roadbuilding and related work are considered an asset.
  • Construction related safety training is considered an asset.
  • Possess a valid Alberta driver’s license, with Class 3 preferred, and can provide a clean driver’s abstract.
  • A minimum of two (2) years motorgrader operating experience is preferred.
  • A general background in heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Must have the physical capability to change/rotate blades as well as equip various grader attachments without assistance.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
