Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to the Director of Community and Social Development, this position is responsible for research and trends analysis that will be used for the planning, development and evaluation of FCSS programs and services, providing report content for Provincial funding requirements and leading the Emergency Social Services portfolio. As well, this position is responsible for the overall management of the section’s portfolio, which includes the performance management function for four (4) direct reports, (5) five indirect reports and championing neighbourhood development initiatives relative to social issues as identified by Council and department priorities.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in related area (Social Work, Human Ecology, Social Planning). Bachelor of Arts with appropriate research experience will be considered; Masters level is an asset. Education/courses in Emergency Social Services is required. Courses for evaluation from related discipline would be preferred. A minimum of five years’ research experience, outcome measurement, supervisory experience, understanding of community development principles, budget management, Emergency Social Services and facilitation skills are required for someone to perform this job competently. This role requires strong problem solving and decision-making skills as it relates to supporting staff providing one-on-one support to individuals, parents/guardians and children. Knowledge of mental health and addictions and trauma informed practice principles would be an asset. Successful completion of a Child Welfare Check and Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector are required.

Salary Range: $100,737.00 - $125,925.80
