The Legislative Services Specialist supports open and transparent local government through oversight and leadership, guiding others through legislative process while ensuring an inclusive and accessible experience. You will be the key point of contact for stakeholders and residents wishing to address Council, be responsible for information flow to Council, lifecycle management of corporate permanent records, process event permit applications and act as Clerk to quasi-judicial boards as required.

You have thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, parliamentary procedures, and principles of Administrative Law and records management best practices.

Superior customer service with a focus on listening, discretion, confidentiality, and effective conflict resolution dealing with a broad range of enquires.

You will demonstrate sound judgement and problem-solving skills in support of a positive and accountable working environment.

Diplomacy, strong interpersonal skills, collaboration, and attention to detail are key success factors.

Requirements:

Qualifications

A university degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Five (5) years directly related work experience in public administration.

Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain the following qualifications:
- Administrative Law I & II (Alberta Municipal Affairs)
- Assessment Review Board Clerk designation (Alberta Land & Property Rights Tribunal)
- Subdivision & Appeal Board Clerk designation (Alberta Municipal Affairs)
- FOIP Awareness Program (Service Alberta)
- Commissioner of Oaths appointment (Alberta Justice)

Local Government Administration courses would be an asset.

Project Management experience would be an asset.

An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
