Cypress County is a rural municipality in the southeast corner of Alberta. The majority of the County’s 1.3 million hectares are utilized for agricultural purposes, including high intensity irrigated cropping. Oil and gas activities plus the Canadian Forces Base Suffield are other major components of the area’s economy.

Key Responsibilities Include:
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Mechanic. Working under the direction of the Purchasing and Shop Foreman, duties include diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining all vehicles and equipment, including fire and rescue equipment. The Mechanic ensures established maintenance management practices are followed to minimize downtime and reduce operating costs. You can manage your workload while maintaining a wide range of effective working relationships. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, dependable and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You can work independently, take direction and show initiative. Compensation for the position is based on education & experience and entails a 40-hour work week.
Required qualifications include the following:
Journeyman Ticket in Heavy Duty License/Certification, 3rd year Apprentice may be considered.
Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) Certification
Minimum three (3) years of related experience as a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic.
Working knowledge of Motor Vehicle Act and Commercial Vehicle Safety Standards.
A valid Alberta Class 3Q motor vehicle operator’s license with acceptable driving record.
Proven problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.
Ability to plan, prioritize and manage own workload including the ability to tolerate frequent interruptions and still meet deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office as well as industry specific software programs.
A proven track record of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
The following valid safety certificates would be an asset: Standard First Aid certificate with CPR; WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
A management approved equivalent of education and experience may be considered.
