IT/Database Technician

Starland County is seeking a highly motivated and intelligent individual to join our team as the IT/Database Technician.

This opportunity is a full time permanent position, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The salary range is $71,000.00 to $92,000.00 per annum and positioning will be based on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. There will be an excellent benefits package available. The successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check.

Key Responsibilities Include:

The job duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

Maintain computer hardware and network systems for Starland County

Maintain, update, troubleshoot and provide support for software applications

Ensure that computer systems, networks and multi-function printers are operational, perform backups, and monitor system performance

Maintain the G.I.S. database including inputting and correcting data, updating sources

Ensure system integrity and security levels are in place and updated

Provide support on computer related issues for staff and elected officials

Coordinating technician assistance if required for repairs to all technical equipment

Requirements:

The preferred qualifications for this position include a minimum two (2) years IT related diploma or equivalent as well as a Certificate in Computer Hardware and Maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in hardware networking and software troubleshooting. Database Administration is essential in this position to ensure Starland County’s information is stored and secured only to authorized users. The IT/Database Technician will be responsible to setup, maintain and secure the large volume of information at Starland County. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to maintain the G.I.S. database, operate the mapping system, and troubleshoot any networks and peripheral equipment. Experience with the Bellamy Software is an asset. As the IT/Database Technician you must have effective communication, problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
