The County of Wetaskiwin is seeking a Data Management Technologist to respond to requests and issues regarding GIS and data management; along with applications software and geographical system requests such as but not limited to GIS mapping, data capture, data maintenance, data analysis, and reporting to customers. This position will also be responsible for supporting mapping and GIS applications and technologies.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsible to assess, troubleshoot and respond to Helpdesk tickets in a timely manner.
Provide end-user helpdesk support, training and problem resolution for software issues including, but not limited to, financial system (Serenic), GIS system (which includes webmap, epad/planner, QGIS, AG Mobile, GeoMedia), Septage, CAMS, eScribe and other data management systems.
Assist stakeholders in their GIS data requirements; data collection for tasks and requests; GIS interactive queries; map data editing; analyze spatial information to understand relationships and capture trends; visualize data; adjust and organize data; interpret data.
Create maps as required (including, but not limited to, owner maps, fire maps, recreation maps, ag maps, spot zoning, rezoning and area structure plan applications).
Assist projects implementation; assist Manager to craft IS solutions to user problems and suggestions.
A Diploma in Database Administration or related field.
Experience in GIS with relevant education required.
Ability to quickly analyze issues and determine best course of action using available resources.
A Class 5 Operators Licence with a clean abstract is required.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
