Lacombe County has a full-time permanent opportunity for an innovative individual with extensive knowledge of various hardware, networking and software platforms to provide consultative and technical information technology support and advice to Council, senior administration and staff.
Reporting to the Manager of I.T. Services, and working with the I.T. Application Coordinator, this role requires an individual who prides themselves on providing superior customer service, looking into and fixing reported issues in a timely fashion and staying current with technology. The preferred candidate has a passion for troubleshooting operating system and hardware issues and who prides themselves on being able to effectively assist others when providing technical support.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Ensure that all computer systems, hardware, software and networks remain operational;
Maintain and monitor security software for all County I.T. equipment and resources;
Plan, design, install, support, monitor and maintain the County’s networks, and configure switches, routers and firewalls;
Perform data & critical system backups;
Install workstations and peripherals, perform computer hardware repairs;
Evaluate and perform hardware, operating system and application software upgrades;
Travel to remote shops and other sites to troubleshoot and support I.T. equipment at County sites and third-party sites.
Completion of relevant post-secondary education in the field of Computer Science or Info. Technology, or equivalent training and experience. MCSE, Cisco, VMware, etc. certification is highly desirable;
Proven ability in network administration with an extensive knowledge of network and communications hardware;
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to find solutions and implement them effectively;
A client-focused team player with the necessary skills to collectively work towards an organization’s goals;
Advanced working knowledge of Office 365, Microsoft Exchange, VMware, SonicWall, Veeam, Sophos, Neptune, Microsoft Dynamics GP, and WorkTech.
